Trailmark race day
The race-day half of Trailmark: a free page for each Javelina Jundred runner, for family, friends and crew.
Eight weeks, seven tests, live leaderboards. No spreadsheet.
In use at one gym, by its members and coaches.
The story
MOM3NT runs one gym's eight-week performance challenge: seven performance tests plus a body scan, scored into points-based divisions, with real prize money on the line. It replaces the master spreadsheet the whole challenge used to live in.
It's for the gym's members and its coaches, who are often the same people: coaches compete too, so the app never assumes staff and members are different people. A real event on a fixed date, watched by people who'll notice if a number is wrong, keeps every feature honest.
The spreadsheet is the competitor, not other gym apps.
The rule I build it by: if a coach could have done it faster in a spreadsheet, the feature isn't done.
The hard parts
Standings update the moment a result goes in, so nobody has to ask a coach where they stand.
A coach runs one test at a time on a tablet: every athlete in a row, one number each, and a progress bar showing who's still to go.
A wallboard on the gym's TV shows the standings in big type beside a live feed of new results as they come in.
Members join by scanning a QR code on the gym wall, right where they train.
Members sign in with a one-time code sent to their email, so there's no password to forget between testing days.
Body scan numbers are personal, so privacy is built into the data layer: private by default, with one place that decides what anyone else can see.
